About Loud Low Aircraft

PLEASE NOTE

The noise disturbance from aircraft varies greatly between people on the ground due to:

*non-stop aircraft vs the occasional flight

*the magnitude of sound from a particular aircraft, whether from throttling or the design itself

*the manner of how you spend your time at home: outdoors, unshielded, quietly vs inside with other noises

*a shift worker trying to sleep during the day

Did you know:

  • That the majority of light aircraft flights above our homes are for pilot training (huge increase in foreign pilot training).

  • All small airports in built up areas in Canada harrass & disturb their neighboring communities resulting in petitions/movements to have them closed down, from time to time.

  • Federal Government regulations state "Airports should establish a locally based airport noise management program to deal with aircraft noise and complaints from adjacent communities".  The problem being these need to have open dialog with the public.

  • Airplane noise is pollution.... https://www.tricitynews.com/local-news/letter-airplane-noise-is-a-pollution-port-moody-resident-claims-9597268

  • Pitt Meadows Airport appears to have the most unlimited training activity in the Lower Mainland, followed by Boundary Bay Airport, Langley, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. The pilot training involves flying from airport to airport day and night, including flying to Sechelt Airport and to Qualicum Airport via the tri-cities, North Vancouver and West Vancouver.

  • As per March20, 2025 article in WINGS magazine, Pitt Meadows has become the third busiest airport in B.C, with aircraft movement increasing steadily since 2020. There are 200,000 movements projected for 2025.....  https://www.wingsmagazine.com/sponsored/cypk-gateway-to-the-lower-mainland/

  • Almost all small aircraft still run on LEADED fuel and have no engine exhaust aftertreatment; which is a strong environmental concern reflected in articles by people living near or around aircraft movements.

  • Once outside an airport's limited control tower radius, light aircraft become self regulating & mostly untraceable, where even people in the aviation industry refer to our local skies as "the wild west".

  • All persons on board small aircraft must wear hearing protection or risk longterm hearing damage; which directly reflects the noise emission volume to the ground.

  • Transport Canada also requires that all aircraft incident reporting be made to themselves or to either the originating or destination airport of said aircraft with the id letters of the plane. Unfortunately, legal identification of 90% of small aircraft is impossible from the ground, making reporting difficult.

  • Ask yourself, if you live in Pitt Meadows (look it up): Does the condition of the rooming house today in this article, add to you community?
